Camp Notes and Shinsa Results

On behalf of Mitsuzuka Munehiro sensei and myself, we wish to congratulate all attending SSK members for a successful and memorable camp! We know some of you risked hardship and even danger to attend. For those of you who suffered losses, our hopes and prayers are with you for a quick return to normalcy.

Congratulations to all who tested! We are proud of you. Not everyone is willing to open themselves up to critique by their peers. We appreciate your commitment and courage. If the test were evaluated solely on spirit, every candidate would surely have passed, however, we must take into consideration many other areas of the testing performance! We and the instructors of the students that need to retest are committed to working closely with you to help you achieve the level you tested for. We apologize for not getting the chance to formally announce the results of the test, as we finished late in the day and most people left right after dinner to avoid the approaching storm.

Yours in Iaido,
Roger Wehrhahn, Shihan

Summer Camp Deadline!

The deadline for postmarking your Summer Camp registration to be eligible for the lower rate is tomorrow, Monday the 15th.

Also, Peter Boylan of Mugendo Budogu has confirmed his attendance again this year. Make sure to bring some spending money, because you will be tempted by his quality budo goods, as well as the usual offering of San Shin Kai curriculum DVDs.

Pre-Test Seminar, 2011

There will be a free pre-test seminar July 30th at 11:00 am for anyone testing at this year's Summer Camp, compliments of the San Shin Kai. It will be held at the Crosswinds Karate Kai, Hazleton, PA, 570-454-4347.

Summer Camp information has also been updated. Information packet and registration forms to follow.

Camp Wrap-Up

Two and a half (ish) days, 50+ attendees, tempting goods from Mugendo Budogu, and a fine shinsa capstone -- another terrific San Shin Kai camp. This time, without added goats.

Pictures will be finding there way into the website as time allows. Thanks to everyone who made camp a success yet again.

Pre-Test Seminar

"Hello instructors/students,

The SSK will be sponsoring a complimentary pre-test seminar for anyone testing at camp this year on June 26th at Crosswinds Karate Kai in Hazleton, PA. It is beneficial that you attend to be comfortable with the material and the testing etiquette. Please let me know if you have anyone eligible to test. Also, my email list might not be up to date so please help spread the word by passing this on to all students and posting it at the dojo.

Thank you,
Shihan"
